There is much comment here about the Zeiss APO 135/2. Less noticed has been the Samyang (Rokinon) 135/2 which several commentators have suggested is bested only by the Zeiss, despite the fact that the latter is priced many times higher.
My experience is only with the Samyang on the A7RII but I can say, unreservedly, that it is as sharp wide open as any lens I have ever owned (including the Leica R APO 100/2.8).
And herein lies a problem. I have just been ticked off by my daughter, aged 27, who was shocked by what I thought was a lovely portrait. "Crows feet", she said; "maybe I'd better get Botox!". And this was at f/2!
Just be warned you fathers, husbands and lovers - this lens is too sharp for your own good! At least as a portrait lens when photographing the gentler sex.
Any other downsides? Yes. No electrical connection means no transmission of aperture. Other than that, no, apart from its quite heavy weight. It's MF of course, like the Zeiss, but the focus rotation is around 270 degrees from close to infinity so the little red ants from focus assist are usually enough to nail focus without bothering about magnification.
But just avoid the ladies unless you are prepared to spend a while with pp. Or sleep outside.
