You have captured the Milky Way nicely here, though perhaps a bit less magenta in the sky. As for the selfie part, I am definitely not into the selfie thing with stars, but perhaps that's just me. But if you like it, you should get the green cast off the dog and off you, that looks pretty odd. Also the short pants doesn't work, for some reason the short pants seems very distracting. The shadow from your camera and tripod also distracts.
Like I said, I am not into Selfie shots, but in the cases where the star selfie seems to work best is where the person is there but more subtle. They come across as a smaller part of the image and they draw you to the scene, which is the stars. In this shot, the green cast, the dog, your short pants, the tripod shadow and also your being so large in the frame causes the eye to focus on you and the foreground and the stars actually get lost in the scene. That's not what you want.
