Thinking further it occurs to me that most of us posting here are enthusiasts. We enjoy taking pictures. Of course there is a lot of obsessing, much of it over arcane detail, corner / mid-field sharpness, etc but that's probably irrelevant in real life to those of us who don't do this for a living, who don't need to produce prints measured in feet rather than inches. Nevertheless, we still pursue excellence, even if we might not be able to justify it in our output (apologies to those who can). But there is something wonderful about using great tools. However, there is more to greatness than extreme resolution and sharpness. Character is hugely important of course; the reason people love the Contax G 45/2 is the dimensionality, crispness, beautiful colours of images it can produce, the Zeiss "pop" - I still regret selling mine, along with the G2, which was the finest camera I've ever owned until the A7rII came along. But I digress. What I'm trying to say is that for me the enjoyment of a lens or camera comes about largely by how they play together and how they involve the photographer in the making of an image. And this is why, for me, the Loxia 50 is such a revelation. I've only had it a few hours but it is an absolute joy to use and I know the IQ will be amongst the best achievable; perhaps not critically the best but certainly good enough for me. I'm pretty sure I shall be getting the Loxia 35 too in time. For the same reasons
