I was waiting on my kingfisher family to bring fish to the chicks who soon will be ready to leave the nest, when suddenly an uninvited guest arrived. There were lots of flies hovering before the nest and around the branches close to the nest and this Common Moorhen decided to do a little rope walking to get to the flies. It was very clumsy to see him/her walking over that little branch.

Soon after the kingfisher family had the landing zone to themselves again, they continued feeding the chicks.

Hi Ron,

I see a lot of birders crop close around the bird, boxing then in like a cage. I like to give them space. And show them in their natural environment. Maybe It's because of the small size that it doesn't work like it should. On my fullscreen monitor it does for me at least.
