The Arctic terns are busy getting ready to nest. A small colony nests along the Yukon River right beside Whitehorse. Their courtship involves flight displays as seen in image 1 and 2 and then involves fish deliveries as seen in 3-7.

All of these are great, but the composition in #3 and #6 are excellent.

This is some of your best stuff yet IMO. First two are ridiculous (in a good way). 1st is superb but I have to give the edge to #2 for the unique pose! Both are winners. Incredible. This is the real "gold" rush!!

There's BIF shooting in general, where a successful series of captures is quite an accomplishment as it is, and then there's BIF shots like these you have posted here where an interesting behavior and/or interaction is captured that just takes everything to the next level. As shots like these are so much more rare in terms of being executed successfully they are therefore that much more pleasing to see posted here so thank you for sharing and keep up the great work!

Thanks guys for the nice comments. This is the first time I've ever shot these terns so I had to quickly figure out their behaviour which allowed me to get quite close to the female that would stay in one place and wait for fish. Not sure why I never went and photographed them before. They have become my second favourite subject besides the eagle nest. I'm not sure how long this courtship behaviour goes on for and I won't have a chance to shoot them again till next week this may be it. Hoping to find the little ones in a month or so.
