At least to me.

Remember that time when you were a kid in the 70s and went with your family to a neighbourhood BBQ? And remember when someone (maybe even your own Dad) had a couple of beers too many and took umbrage with a comment or a look? It was usually all a big misunderstanding, often forgotten by the time everyone got together again.

Anyhoo, someone at this frozen pond said or did something to upset this male Canada Goose terribly. Then things went sideways…literally.

Calm before the store. The innocent bystander...

What did you just say? The supposed aggrieved party...

The bull rush (camera operator caught unaware of the pending action)

Good show Camster, you are obviously an Animalcrackers fan.

Their violent ruptures and fights are fun to watch, just that they are so damn noisy.

As far as your exposure is concerned I think you could be just a wee bit (1/3 EV) underexposed.
The way I set up my M mode for Canada geese, I let their white cheeks blink just a bit on the camera clipping indicator.....that may be a decent compromise which is then easy to refine further in pp.

Thanks Peter, I think you're on to something. I might revisit one or two shots to compare a slightly brighter exposure white retaining details in those whites...

Camster, do remember, those white cheeks are of hardly any significance in the overall bird rendering, as long as you get the black head and the neck feathers well exposed.
Exposure of a high contrast coloured bird like that is always a compromise, and one has to look at where the priority is, and what's easier to fine-tune in photoshop.
