During the aftemath of a major solar storm, I was lucky enough to be in a 3 weeks tour in Iceland this March. Despite the weather being intermittent days before (even had the worst storm in Iceland history), a clearing during the night of the most active aurora forecast of level 8.7 kp happened.

Here are some of my take.

KRYPTON

I have been shooting this location for three years now and each time I have said that my most favorite photo comes from this place. This year is no different; with the strongest Aurora hitting the island I was lucky enough to have photographed it at this spot.
The Aurora Borealis captured here had the red colors above, one of the rarest color band to be captured. A little bit tricky on the exposure since it was a new moon and had to shoot at a longer exposure time than I intended. Hope you guys enjoy viewing this.

Hey Edwin,

Amazing shots here! The light and color is just incredible. I like both of those, no favorites, well I take it back, #1 really stands out. That ice really sets a great stage.

Hopefully I can get some aurora shots in the next year or two, seeing shots like these really make me want to go capture my own.

I'll be visiting Iceland in August. I assume the Borealis will be gone or minimal. So I can only look at these and marvel, and hope to capture a small portion.... with some luck.

That 1st one is not just a colorful display but a great comp as well
Having seen this phenomenon 1st had it is spell binding.
