I thought it was a rare occurrence - clouds filling the Grand Canyon, but it has happened several times in the past year. This visit I noticed a little rainbow-like ring on the clouds below. I don't think I have ever been directly between the sun and clouds before. When I first saw it I wondered what it was and how I could remove it the pictures. I decided that it is not my place to remove something so interesting and rare from view. The five ravens were another matter, they are cool, they stay! Ravens travel in pairs, I wondered where number 6 is? It's always something.

Nice shot, you captured the scale well. The rainbow shaped ring is an optical phenomenon called a glory.

We see the circular rainbows frequently when flying above a layer of clouds, I've also heard it called a glory.
