Nicely done Morris, very cool to see.

Just curious... I see that the first image was at 135mm, so just how far off the trail are these guys? Is it a raised walkway? Is there danger of attack, or are they so used to people they don't pose much of a threat?

Thank you Kirk,

Subject distance was 9.4m for the first image. Sometimes they are closer than this.

The trail starts off as a raised and paved trail with a stream on the left and woods on the right. There is a boardwalk that makes a loop connecting to the main trail and a dead end section off of the loop. These photos were taken at the end of the paved section, the gators were about 3 feet below my feet.

Most of the wildlife along this trail is used to the constant presence of people. They are still wild creatures and as such must be respected.

Morris I think the white rock like thing in the first image(off to the right) would be easy to clone out and by removing it, would enhance your image.

For pretty vicious creatures, they do seem to tolerate each other being in close proximity. There aren't many places to get that close and be safe...I bet you wish you were there right about now....single digit temps and wind chills 20 below are not my favorite....stay warm my friend.
I would suggest that you find someone to gently move that stick...preferably not your wife or son..

Predator love! I'd clone rather than move that stick.

Thank you Eric,
I think moving the stick with the cloning stamp or content aware fill would be safe :-}
