This natural garden of Calle Lillies is sort of a transplant. These flowers are not native to this area
There is a ranch across the road that supposedly had Calle Lillies in their garden.
The creek from that property is what waters this draw out to the beach and carried the seeds
I have frequented this spot almost every year.
As is usual, the 1st is sometimes the best as this link from 2009 will show.

If you go early, late Jan like I just did, the sun is way off to the left.
If you go too late, towards the end of April, the blooms will have turned. The edges turn brown.
I think the heavy rains a few week prior this time aided the quality.
I almost didn't make the exposure as the sky is blotto and two guys loitered at the base of the steps
till the sun was almost gone.
I have usually shot this close to the beach to include the creek but always wanted to try further back to include more.
The sky is not very interesting but the spread of the blooms & their quality made me open the shutter
This was exposed on Ektar 100 for ~13 seconds (reciprocity), using my 150mm at f32 with just a few deg of tilt
