As the Sun was setting behind the canyon walls. I was a little bummed that we didn't get the "golden" light on the canyon, but it makes for a moody landscape. Kinda makes me think, this is what Mars would look like. Lol/

As always, CC is welcome.

Very surreal looking, and many layers of detail in the shot. Thanks for sharing

Mars indeed! I like it, but maybe you could try a teeny bit more contrast and/or open the shadows a bit? It just needs a little something, but I'm not sure what.

Hey Matt,

I am loving this one! One of the better takes on that area. I like the toning in this, the red feel is perfect. For me, this doesn't need anything else, I think it stands as it is just fine.

Thank you, Jo! To start off, it was really hazy out when I took the picture. I opened up the shadows a bit but IMHO it looked a little washed. If you have some free time, you're more then welcome to play with the image and see what you get. Just post it back up here so we can see what you came up with.

Thank's, Jim. I was a little disappointed when I got there since the sky was bland and it was really hazy out. But after I pulled it into post, it really worked better then I had thought. I'm really glad I was able to get something a little different then what I normally see from that location.
I like it how it is as well, but I'll be interested to see if Jo will be able to tweak the image to give it that "little something".

Love the light! I like the subtlety the way you have it.

Matt - finally saw this and thought I'd take a crack at it. Just opened up the shadows a teeny bit more, added some clarity and put a GND filter on the top. May or not be "better", but it's different! Let me know what you think, or if you want me to pull it down.

Really like the additions you made, Jo! Adding the clarity and bring out the shadows is a very subtle difference that adds a touch better detail. But the GND filter really adds that "finished" look that mine was missing. Thank you for letting me know what you did so that I can learn from it.
