Just curious. The statistic 3 out of 1,200. This image is wonderful, but why the low rate of success? Camera lens issues, capturing the owl in flight, why such a low rate of satisfaction with the outcome of the images. I've just purchased a 7D II and have yet to try it on BIF. I've been photographing burrowing owls for a few weeks now, and find them pretty sedentary. Your image is wonderful. Any tips.

This is an incredible shot and certainly worth all the throwaways (if you will). It makes a little more sense now how youd manage a shot like this - you take 1200!! Still impressively executed, not to mention beautiful light. )The burrowing owls I've seen were so skittish that good photos were pretty much impossible)

When you have a picture like this, all you need to know is that you took this shot, the throw always do not matter. This one says it all.

These were active at the time. They fly fast, and also in a sort of up and down motion. So for two hours, I tried to catch them just as they are taking off. Low success rate is mostly due to my poor handholding and tracking, but i'm working on that.

This is a special shot. These owls zip around fast, but you caught this one well.

Not so good wing position and head angle on the other two, but they're sharp and i'm keeping them.
