Looks good.
I know it's cold in Finland, but o you have other images than near macro images of ice? Something I can recognise?

1-how about some strong backlit pictures?? They say it would flare like crazy because of the freshnel elements!! That is what everyone are worry about!! Big ugly flare in back sunlight!

2-Did you compare the af speed of the old 300 f4 vs 300 f4 fl?

I think, in this new lens af speed is faster than old 300/4. Not as fast as 300/2.8vr, but very good. Have to shoot more backlit.

The bokeh actually looks really good, have you noticed any issues with the PF elements? Great shots, thanks for sharing!

The pictures look very good. Nice background isolation. Have you done any landscape or objects at infinity or far distance? How is the lens wide open and what about the corners vs the center? Any issues with flare? What do
you think about the IQ in comparison with the old 300 / 4.0?

I could pick up my 300 4.0 PF on monday and would be happy to get some feedback before. To invest 2000,-€ is
not cheap and it would be great if you could leave some general comments helping to qualify the lens.

I still have and try to keep the 70-200 2.8 VRII and the 70-200 4.0 VRIII but one lens has to go if I will take the
300 4.0 PF.

Great samples guys, keep em coming! As expected, bokeh doesn't seem to be an issue at all based on what we have to go on so far.

Here are a few from this morning. Really like this lens. Love the how the colors are rendered. Found I did not have to do as much sharpening as normal.

Shot with D800 all at f/4, no flash

No. 3 is 100% of a little 3" Rufous Hummingbird about 25-30' up in a tree.

Birdie

2. About 20' away cropped about 60%

3. About 25-30' away

4. 100% crop. Little 3

5. Had to have the cat shot. Background is dark screen , sun shinning in

how about some shots where you "try to break it"? i.e. into flare, etc. where the PF might cause issues...

Focusing is really impressive with this lens. Reminds me of the 300/2.8 I use to shoot with.

Yes, lot of Pelicans today. With it being so warm the eagles weren't very active.
