p.2 #1 · What lens has the largest physical aperture?

I was thinking of the Carl Zeiss N-Mirotar 210mm f0.03, but its physical aperture is only 150mm...

I wonder how that lens would perform on a Sony A7s at ISO 409,600...

Yeah, I don't care...throw all the other lenses out even if they're bigger...I need to learn more about this lens. I see it's an 'image intensifier' lens....how does this work optically? Sounds awesome.

Edit: I found a page that seems to note that it's actually electronically amplified, which doesn't exactly sound as magic as what I was envisioning).

Shame it's not really f/0.03 rather than T/0.03... A 7 meter aperture would be a sight to behold. :P

Canon 5200mm f/14 anyone? Doesn't beat the 1700 f/4, but it's an impressive sight.

Heck, there are 10 meter *diameter* telescopes. They should count.

This one might be a contender:

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/telephotos/300mmedif20/

Nikon 300mm f/2.0

Front thread diameter is 160mm, which should be bigger than say a 600mm f/4.

Here's the Zeiss 1700mm f/4 (with a Hassy on the back), and it's deep space doppelganger, the Doomsday Machine.

so would you use the waist level finder to best handhold the hassy with that?

also, is the doomsday machine only small format?

I'd connect my Android phone to the Hassy PC socket, and use the MFSLR Controller app.

I think The Machine has a Pentacon 6000 mount, and so there's lots of options. I'd use the Hubble.
