Arches national park is fun to visit and you can see a lot in one day. That's highly rewarding. On my visit here, I met up with Craig to see the "Marching Men" in the northwest section of the park. Craig was a great guide and we saw these fun rocks. This is my take from that visit.

I like the way you balanced one diagonal line with another. Nothing in southern Utah ever seems level but your first image works because of the foreground.

I like both Gordon. Was the juniper by the pictographs?

Really like how you captured the foreground sand in the Marching Men shot. Great lead in.

Hi Craig,

The Juniper was just up the hill from our shooting spot.
My marching daughter was fun to have along. I'd love to see her picture here too as she was part of the whole adventure. By the way, she's still talks excitedly about how much fun it was to check out Canyonlands and Arches. It was a great experience.

I love all the shadows and textures in the first shot and how well the complement each other perfectly!

The first image has a lot of really well placed elements within the composition. I love the strong diagonal lines and the movement they create. The ridge of sand as well as the slope that the marching men sit on both combine to create a visually moving composition. The light is kind of lackluster and uninteresting, to me. Although, I do enjoy the hell out of the play of shadows and light on the foreground. Overall, well done!

The second one is my favourite - doesn't have the impenetrable shadows of the first. And well done for taking your daughter along.
