p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · BIF's (Ducks) With D750

Hi Folks,

Nikon recently replaced my D600 with a 610 so I sold it as soon as I received it and upgraded to the D50. I've been shooting some hockey with it and took it out this past weekend to try some BIF's. Big improvements in the AF on this body. Locks n quickly and stays on track especially noticeable in the low lit hockey rinks. Below are a few BIF's from the weekend. D750 with the 80-400 AF-S VR. Most shots were with AF-C Single point. I tried the 3-D and group for a bit, but found the single point most affective. Need more time with the camera to really judge 3-D.

Edit-added camera settings.

Pintail in #1 is great. #3 is some type of escaped domestic duck.

Pintail 2 is my favourite, to me it's in sharper focus than #1. #3 is a Muscovy duck, common domesticated duck.

Nice set Capo. 51 point 3D will work well with clean backgrounds. If you don't have them the jury is out. 51 point will do a great job if you steer the focus point with the rocker.

Pintail looks great, definitely my favorite duck. They're always beautiful and graceful in flight.

Just an FYI, I'd stay away from use 51 pt. 3D autofocus for BIF. 9pt. or 21pt. dynamic has historically been the best, but you should probably experiment with the Group are AF mode because that's what Nikon made it for--fast action. When using the 9 and 21pt. however, you've got to keep the subject in those sensor points you're using.
