After months without measurable rainfall in Southern California we finally had a decent dump on Halloween, thus "rinsing" the air and providing a good view of the moon through crisp, clear skies this evening.

Ha ha good one, but seriously you have some nice detail in that moon thanks to the clear skies and also the three quarters phase brings in lots of light from the side and this accentuates details by creating better contrast in the shadows.
