Wish I went there last week, but someone told me that the colors are not at their prime yet, which was not true - this week, they are already past prime.
There is not as much damage to the trail as could be expected given the size of a wildfire. There are some burnt trees, and the biggest problem is actually in the creek bed itself - famous red dirt is now covered with a thick black layer of sooth. This is especially noticeable closer to the trail head, further down the trail it is cleaner, and more colorful, too. Trail looks well taken care of, even if there is a "deadly danger" note posted near the bridge.
The water level is low, but at least it is clean. A month ago, water in a creek was very muddy and gray, so looks like the nature will gradually heal itself.
Below are few pictures from the hike. I framed mine so no black sooth deposit is visible, but you can see some on one of Lisa's pictures.
C&C welcome,
Sasha.
1.Lots of fallen trees, most likely post-fire
2. Water has greenish hue instead of red, that's because of black stuff on a bottom
3.
4. Someone had a blast!
5. Unexpected find
