One Pissed Off Bald Eagle!

Hello PhotoFriends,

Since I last spoke with you all, I have visited The Pond two more times.
The eagle count and activity seems to have slowed down since when I posted my last eagle thread. It’s just not cold enough yet. I dress up for winter but it’s just too warm.

It was another slow day except for one fast mind-boggling moment

I mean “a moment”!

Whew!

All of a sudden there were two bald eagles coming towards the photographers. One eagle had a fish and the other eagle wanted it badly, boy were they

The eagle in my picture tried to hold on to his pride and joy BUT

he couldn’t

Ready for this

As they were fighting, they passed us photographers going over our heads and headed to the parking lot in back of us and this bald eagle dropped his beloved fish on top of a car close to my car!

It all happened at a blink of an eye. So as I panicked

to capture this eagle to the left of me as I looked up swinging my big lens on tripod to the left and high up in the sky I yup

that I would get just one reasonable capture to show you all the expression of the eagles mouth wide open to show you how loud he screeched! Hope my one capture can give you all the chilling feelings that I felt yesterday! It was so very exciting!

There was another interesting incident that happened the other day. There was a photographer with his big lens/camera on a tripod. He was heading to get something in his car. He walked only went a few steps and his tripod went “smash” as a gust of wind flipped the tripod over. I felt so sorry for him and hoped it did not damage his camera. I know that the mirror can easily get out of adjustment and don’t even want to think about how much it would cost to repair big glass.

Moral to the story? Buy a sturdy tripod because I would be

if my gear fell over. You would be amazed at what a gust of wind can do!

I'm sure the eagle screeching was matched by the photog screeching when he got back to his camera. Nice shot BB.

Wow... Great facial expression of the Bald Eagle captured by you, BeeBalm. Very nice.
For the tripod and gear, I never left my stuff unattended. :-)
Hope that photographer doesn't have to pay a lot.

What lens are you using "Double B"? These are super fine captures! The detail is tremendous!

Oh BeeBalm what a terrific shot! The story makes it that much more enjoyable. Holy smokes, I feel for Tripod Guy. What a flurry of emotions, to go from the elation of a good shoot to horrified disappointment at the prospect of broken gear. I don't have my big lens..yet, but I'll probably have nightmares about this regardless

Not sure what its pissed off about, got breakfast, the wind in its feathers and a beautiful day....maybe its what we don't see that is getting its dander up a bit

Very nice photo BB and it looks like you will be packing on some miles shortly to get more like this.

That's a great shot, BB! Perfect timing...

On a personal note, over the course of the last 12 years that I've visited down there, I've had to clean off splattered fish parts off my car and windshield several times! It's the worst when the weather is below freezing...
