We've been fortunate to have a fair bit of auroral activity over the last month. I'm still working on finding interesting foregrounds and framing, but I am happy with the progress I've been making in processing/color. The local TV station contacted me for permission to use the first image during the weather segment of the nightly news. An exciting first for me!

#1 is overcooked for my tastes, but it's the kind of shot that friends, family, and my aurora hunting group all seem to get excited about. Comments welcome.

All three of these were shot on a NEX-5R with the SEL16F28 at the mouth of the Amnicon River in NW Wisconsin.

Hi Aaron,

Congrats on having one of your shots used on the news, that is pretty cool.

#1 is my favorite here, the other 2 are nice, but #1 really stands out.

As for finding foreground objects, perhaps there are some smaller lakes or ponds you can use. Perhaps in an area where it's more open?

Thanks for taking a look! I'm always on the lookout for suitable lakes, ponds, or streams, but it's tough. I've got something in my head, but haven't been able to find it in person yet. I'll continue looking at maps and driving around the countryside until I find something promising.
