I just tried using my Zeiss 2/135 in pseudo-macro mode. There's about three inches of this flower stem shown. I used both Canon tubes combined for 37mm of extension. Just one exposure each time at f9, and the DOF was obviously too shallow. Different adjustments to levels for the two.

I love the background and detail in the second Ernie. It looks sharp throughout to me

Both are really nice, Ernie, but I like the tonality in the first best

Very nice Ernie. The last one is my pick. Great dof for having 37mm of extension tubes on !

It's just struck me that for f9, that's some smooth bokeh. The background was about 3 or 4 feet away - maybe 5 at the very most.
