In 2004 I started doing digital photography using a Canon 10D but only shooting JPEG images. It wasn't until a few years later that I incorporated RAW + JPEG files even if I didn't process the RAW ones. There was much less leeway with these but a few came out acceptable.
This big and fairly dark leopard was called the Burnt Ebony Male (named after territory not physical features) and he was the dominant male leopard in the area. He went on to father Legadema, the star of the Jouberts' film, 'Eye of the Leopard". So I show father and daughter separated in time by 8 years. We spent quite a while with the male leopard as he staked out a warthog burrow but never got any action. Additionally, we were not in the best position, as another vehicle had that and got many great yawning shots head on...it wasn't for many more years that I would even get one.

Immediate reaction to these images was, "Wow, these are so beautiful." After looking at them for several minutes I'll stand by my first impression... soooooo beautiful. Excellent comp in #2.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such nice words...it is funny however to look at stuff I did ten years ago and wonder what I was thinking at the time

and wish I could have a do-over with some of the characters that were around then

Beautiful cats you had collected through out a decade regardless of which gears you had used, Eric. Excellent work. I love these and hope one day I have a chance to shoot these cats.

Eric, my gosh #1 is absolutely astonishing! Sharp, detailed, lighting is right on...wow...!!That leopard is just one of the most beautiful of creatures in the world!!
Where is my ark!!!!
