I just got back from a family vacation in the Dominican Republic. I didn't want to lug my d800, and at times I wished I had, but it wasn't a photo trip and I deemed it not worth the hassle.

I brought a d80 I got on craigslist for $100 about a year ago, that with a 50mm 1.8g got me this shot of my kids at sunset.

I bought the silly cheap Samyang 135mm f/2, mostly to use with the F6, but here's a test shot wide open with the D2Xs. Fantastic lens and a real bargain. There seems to be a lot of field curvature though, which is clearly visible in close shots like this one.

Bumpity bump!

I'm yet to be disappointed by Sigma DC fast zooms (past 2x HSM 50-150mm F2.8, now with OS version, and Art 50-100mm). Makes DX =

, for me.

My D70s is dead for now. Making do with D300s.

That D70 was a game changer. At the time that camera I think pushed Nikon ahead of Canon. Plus the 18-70 kit lens was actually a solid lens unlike most of the kit lens offerings.

My newly planted "Knock Out Rose" with a blossom about as wide as an inch.
