There is a reason most IT people that I know use macbook pros and install linux and windows on them in addition to OSX. They are the best built laptops in terms of material and engineering quality that I know of - there is almost zero keyboard flex, the trackpads are responsive but not overly so and smart enough to actually ignore extraneous fingers touching them, the screens are brilliant (particularly these new retina displays), and the batteries last for ages, the chargers are small and not ungainely bricks, all of the USB ports are USB3, thunderbolt is faster than anything else, the battery connectors break away if someone trips on the cable, and they just don't break down and get slugged down in garbage malware like the windows operating system does. Further, if my laptop breaks I can just take it to the apple store and have them work on it, calling in I speak to people who give a flying froot loop about me and are actually willing to help, and if you get a lemon laptop (3 or more problems over the course of the first year) they will just straight up replace the laptop.
If you have the money, Apple Macbook Pros are the best all around laptops period. Sure, dedicated workstations with pro graphics cards may have more power but at the cost of mobility, build quality, and severely limited battery life.
If you don't have the money, Toshiba builds the most reliable laptops but their trackpads suck and their chassis are weak plasticy toys.
Experience: 4 years running a department of a major university's IT infrastructure on my own working with all assortment of laptops and desktops (70+).
