I recently discovered a seldom-visited redwood grove and enjoyed spending an afternoon there having it essentially entirely to myself (on a weekend!). The ground was blanketed in clovers that gave the place an almost magical feel and also helped cut through the clutter of a typical forest scene. C&C welcome.

Nice intimate shot. I would suggest darkening it a bit.

This is a great shot!

I sometimes stand in forest wanting to capture the scene knowing the photo just won't covey the feeling of standing there in person. You have done a great job capturing the feeling and size of the trees.

The only thing i might change would be to bring down the exposure of the trees in the distance, it looks like some of the white areas may be blown out a bit.

I agree. Lowering the exposure will create a really cool mood to an already good photo.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll play around with darkening it. I have trouble figuring out how what I see on my home monitor (which is not calibrated) will translate into what others see. I've had problems in the past with something looking good on my monitor but coming across as too dark on other monitors. So I've gotten in the habit of over-brightening to compensate for that. Seems like I went too far on this one.

I like what you were going for with this composition. I have found Redwood forests hard not only to compose cleanly, but also to process sometimes with retaining detail in the darker bark while also retaining detail in the lighter areas being lit more.

Well, I for one like it the way it is, it's very ethereal and I very much like the composition.

Lovely shot of a lovely place. I agree with helenica its maybe a bit bright and could have some dodging on the tree trunks to accentuate the feel of a 'doorway' into another world you get from the light area of the image.
