Nice evocation of the austere, rockbound country of the higher elevations of the range. The scene looks vaguely familiar though I cannot quite place it. (It reminds me of an isolated area below another remote Sierra pass to some extent.)

I think I prefer the color version, if you were wondering.

I know some like the more lush areas of the mountains, but I love the granite starkness of the Sierra's, reminds me a lot of the Windrivers as well.

I like it. You are right, for whatever reason, light in Sierra Nevada is of some special quality, I am processing my shots from there right now, and keep thinking that it is very different from all other places I've been.
