way too overcooked, it looks like a cartoon. the compositions are ok, just overprocessed. try going back to the file and doing less HDR.

Beautiful locations, I just love Yellowstone and the Tetons. Compositionally speaking, I like your inclusion of foreground in image #1, the shoreline brings the eye right to those huge peaks; well seen. Image #2 flows well and is nicely framed. I as well think that these images have been over done in post. To my eyes, these do not appear as natural landscapes, especially #1. I suggest desaturating the mountains and decreasing the contrast in the clouds. I hope that helps! All the best.

I toned down the saturation above.

What about this one?

Thanks

The last one looks ok other than the sky color towards the horizon. The first two photos are nice compositions but in my humble opinion your HDR processing is causing far more problems than its resolving.

I went to the Grand Tetons when I was younger and I wish that I could go back

These look horrible.... I don't know how to sugarcoat it.... they look really bad. Adding a 3rd totally different shot is not the solution.... you have gotten suggestions, and so you should go and rework #1 and 2 and repost them.

You need to go back and process those again from the start. Ditch the HDR, you don't need it. Just process them normally, and maybe these will work. But as it is, these are really bad....

OK - this is the best of my post processing ability - #1 and #2 and 3#

It was a cloudy and hazy day for one and two. If you guys know how to pull anything else from these I'm all ears.

Phew they are looking better. This is photography, so we have are at the mercy of the light sometimes.

The top 2 are looking pretty good now.

Hey Ponz,

As Tyler said, the first two look much better. Most off normal processing will win every time. HDR is touted to be the "magic" tool, but in most cases it actually ruins the photos. While some who really know their stuff can produce realistic looking shots with HDR, those people are very very few.

My suggestion would be for you to hone your processing skills with just normal processing for a while. Learn how to use layer masks, and do your own blends on shots that have more dynamic range than the camera can handle. Your growth from that will be well worth it in the future.

Jim - I've NEVER used layer masks before. I've always felt intimidated. It's past time I began bracketing and learned layers. Maybe, then, I can be on par with some of you guys!

Time to search a good tutorial or three....
