I've been traveling for work a lot recently. I don't want to haul around the 5D kit, so I bought a Panasonic Lumix LX7. I've been very pleased.

I found myself in Vacaville, California recently and tried out the panorama feature of the LX7. I tried to minimize it, but if you have sharp eyes, you may see a little vertical banding in the sky where it combines the images. I had to be very careful in PP not to emphasize it.

I debated about the weed in the middle. One minute I like it, the next I wish is wasn't there.

Thanks for your comments Ben and geneva.

geneva, maybe this is kind of a photographic "Muzak". I guess is doesn't have a strong center of interest, I just thought it was a soothing landscape.

BTW, I posted at 800px. If I went bigger, could your monitors handle it? Do you normally view FM full screen or in a window? Should I post at 1200, 1400?

I doubt I ever post a pano less than 1024. Folks can shrink the browser to fit whatever screen size they have, I presume. That's what I do when an image is too big to view at once.

PS, there are so many good quality small cameras to choose from now!

For pano's I think we agreed way back when that we'd post something like 800 or 900 tall (max) ... and let it run as wide as that made it for the aspect ratio.

I usually post in the 800 +/- @ 650 - 850 tall. Most folks don't mind scrolling right/left, but the up down kinda cuts the image a bit more challenging. Imo, when you start getting under 600 or 550 tall, it starts getting kinda hard to see detail ... especially when you're looking for a "Toy Piano" somewhere in the scene.

Here's an uprez (uprez quality not the point) to 550 tall from the 239 tall of Doug's OP for comparison reference. If I were trying to "fit" it horizontally, I'd probably go with 1200 wide, but Karen's point @ resize the browser is pretty easy to do if I want to see the whole image without scrolling ... so no worries, either way imo.

I think 1000, 1200 wide is fine.
I am surprised to say this, but I like the weed. Somehow it provides some interest, break in a pleasant scene, and anchors attention a bit along a vertical dimension, pointing to the trees on the hillside above. Which to me is the main focal area of interest.

I updated the image to 1200 px. Thanks for the comments, Scott! I guess that's what I was thinking when I took it. I included it intentionally.
