p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Morning with the Hoodoos

This was captured during my recent trip to Bryce. The sky was clear at around 4:30am but luckily clouds started to gather around sunrise. The light was incredible and I wanted to share another one from that morning.

Taken with my A7R and 24-70 II. The light was soft and changing rapidly. No filters used.
Comments appreciated.
Best,
Fred

Fred,

I like it very much, especially the realistic soft glowing color of the sky. It is very beautiful, and common to SW sunrises, I call it "salmon", and very often it turns too yellow or too pink in PP. Your reproduction of this color is simply perfect.

Sasha.

Fred, very nice imaging of that short lived magical interval that most people sleep through.

This is a beauty. I like the lighting on the hoodoos on the right side.

The image flows nicely from upper left to lower right with the highlights. You captured the magic that is Bryce very well here.

Very beautiful, particularly that pre dawn sky!
Those colors only seem to last a few minutes.

What Jeffrey said too.

Great shot, Fred. You used the light on the right-hand hoodoos for composition, which suggests that you were only given a very short window of opportunity to get it the way it now stands in full glory.
Super stuff!

Hey Fred,

I had to wait until I could look at this on something besides my ipad, but this sure looks nice. Love the light and color in it. Way to go here.

Hi Fred,

I'm not sure where the focal point of interest is in this image, as you have two conflicting rock formations that are prominent in the scene, one on the far left and one on the far right. My eyes just seem to wonder around with no where to settle. I also find the composition a little on the 50/50 for my liking as well. Not to sure if I should be looking at the color in the sky or the actual formations.

Nigel.

Sweet image Fred!
I like either the orig or the crop.
I would disagree on Nigel's reason for the crop as the rock feature on the left is at a distance & balances with the one on the right. Gives some depth too.

Thanks for posting.
