Wow. Very nice image. Not my favorite border, it draws my eyes away from the image.

Hi Tront,

I have to say first off, that white border line just really hurts your shots, what is it you see in that border?

This shot has a few issues, even though a few seem to like it as it is. First, the sky has some nice stars, but the sky is too bright, it doesn't look a night sky. Second, the ground layer looks like a day shot, not a night shot. Obviously at night the ground layer usually is so dark, it's hard to see, which doesn't work well. So often we will expose the ground layer brighter than it actually was, but keeping it dark enough to maintain the feel of the night to it. Third, in the ground layer the immediate foreground is just way too bright and an odd orange color. They goes to that orange blobish ground area. I am thinking that is not where you really want the eye to go to.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. You have potential here, but it's all in the details.

Jim

I like it!

It has great potential, and Jim makes very valid points.
I would consider tweaking it, and you'll have a real winner.

Does not look like a night shot for me, rather like a day shot with the stars. WB is also not right for night, and bright orange fg pulls atention away from the main subject. However, with a proper PP and cropping, the shot does have a great potential.

Sasha.

Thanks guys for your comments. This shot was taken from the hotel balcony. Valley is not viewing at a glance, and monuments could not be seen at all. Orange hue on the ground because of the incident light hotel lighting. Stars can not be point because exposure 30sec. Sensor & ISO did their job. I did nothing in the editor. It only resize.

Waking up early in the morning to see the valley ...

Once again, thank you for your great comments.

Hey Tront,

Just because there is ambient light from the hotel doesn't make it good light. And if you aren't processing your shots, you are really missing out. The camera only is going to give you the beginning of a shot, it's up to us to finish it as we edit the shot.

As for this second shot, you really should post it in a new thread. Most anyone who has already seen this thread initially is not going to look in it to see that you posted a new shot. Also keep in mind that 5 photos per thread is our max.

Now in regards to this 2nd shot, you have the makings of a cool shot, you just have the area around the sun that is too bright. Hopefully you are exposing for the highlights. This would be a simple 2 layer scene, one for the sky, and one for the ground. Using an ND Grad is another way to solve that issue.

Jim

PS. In the time I wrote this, you added a third shot to this thread.... your photos are just going to get lost in this thread...

Nice images, Tront. The night scene is pretty nice and the brightness is probably the result of the camera's automatic desire to expose 'properly', that is, like a daytime scene. The foreground is bright of course, but at least it is representative of what is actually there. I suppose it's a good idea to bracket night images with an underexposure.
