Ton,

I like the comp and I think you processed the stars really nicely. I feel the light painting on the tree is too strong so the tree is so bright it doesn't mesh with the beautiful star background. Maybe darken the tree and perhaps reach a happy medium.

Is it from Ancient Bristlecone forest?
I love the idea, but shot looks out of balance.
May I suggest two things: flip image horizontally, and make stars brighter, and tree - dimmer?

Hey Ton,

I am all for making the tree dimmer. I am guessing the stars aren't brighter because the noise was bad in the shot from shooting at ISO 10,000. Not sure why you chose the settings you chose at all.

I would not flip the image horizontally, that to me is getting into fakery in an image, no different than pasting a sky into a shot from another image.
