There is a lot of great advice on trip location and gear selection on the Landscape board. I hate to see this resource die out so quickly and following the advice from fellow FM member Dustin Gent, I finally added a new board today.
This board is located in the Presentation boards and it's called:

Trip Location Advice & Meet-ups

Lots of threads were already moved there. If you come across another one, please let me know.

This makes a lot of sense to combine the two. Many times as people are looking for information about a place, they do want to meet up with someone too. Great idea.

Hmm, maybe this is a place for us non artistic landscapers to show our landscapes. You know the type of image, "I was here on such and such a date and here is what it looked like" Include how to get there, any gotchas like road closures, shuttle only into the park etc.

But if Fred does not want this to become another photo showing place, now is the time to make it known.

Ben, you mean like a "trip report"? I have been thinking of suggesting a "location advice" forum for a long while. It struck me that when I was getting all the excellent info for my SW trip in April, why not have all the threads in one place - and people can reference it. I dunno if Fred wants to get specific by region (PNW, SW, etc etc), but at least it is in one place. Info/advice doesn't expire
