p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Spring time in the Gulf (Savage Gulf)

The gorges/hollows carved out of the southern cumberland plateau are referred to as "Gulfs" so no Gulf of Mexico shots here

Savage Gulf is a place I have been visiting since I was child and one of my favorite places to sit, meditate, absorb the beauty of nature, and of course to photograph. This is a familiar composition but one I have never had the light and clouds I wanted. After a long day of work and a 2 hour commute, I decided to drive the 45 minutes and do the mile hike out here at last light hoping for something worth shooting. The clouds in the sky offered promise. Though I did not get the drama I was hoping for, I believe I walked away with something worthy. Hope you enjoy.

edit #1 per Jim Fox suggestion

I think the first one a lot, nice clouds and a great view -- good place to contemplate.

Hey Jon,

Pretty cool views here. I like #1 the best, I think the sky is best there. But as a small nit, I think the grad line is too heavy in #1. The trees show it the most, the bottom half of the trees have detail while the top half is almost black. In #2 the trees on the left look better, so whatever you did there to bring out that detail just apply it to #1.

The first makes me wanna jump on top of these green canopies, very beautiful location! and i think you were lucky enough with the clouds and all, but darkness in the left trees and top BG gives it away...
