I love when it's a good physical challenge to get a photo, and Spirit Falls in Southern Washington is one of those places. I took my class down here this past weekend.

I didn't really look at other photos of this fall until I returned from the trip. I realized I actually never made it to the point everyone shoots this fall from. But I'm glad I didn't do my research, because I try to avoid making the exact same picture as everyone else, if possible.

So this is more of a unique comp than you'll find searching the net. I think going to a location without a comp in mind gives you fresh eyes.

I would say the hike down and back up is a more difficult hike than any hike I've personally been on. If you're in good shape and are ok with a bit of risk (loose rocks, wet rocks, etc) then go for it.
