With Dave (Icypeak) we took a quick run through Capitol Reef and camped in Cathedral Valley. At the Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon, we found some interesting perspectives near sunset.

C&C welcome

Hey Bart,

You worked the blue sky nicely in #1 and 2. But I have to say that #3 really takes the cake! Love that moon and that golden light in this.

The moon in the last one adds something special and the light is fabulous!
Thanks for sharing

Nice series Bart, particularly that last one with the soft light and bonus moon.

Nice Bart!

Minor nit and just personal preference, a little bright for me, but I like how you put effort into some climbing and hiking to get the more novel compositions rather than the standard fare! Made me go back and look at my old shots from when I climbed up onto the cliff...

The light and added interest of the moon in the last works best for me. The sky looks way to purple in #1 though, especially since the sun appears to still be high in the sky.

ck and Justin: The light was a little flat for 1 and 2; the sun drops behind the cliff behind us pretty early, and there were no clouds to make it really interesting. All we could do was work the shapes. Trying to work out the flatness in processing probably shifted the sky a bit in #1. Good observation.

Jim, Che, Tuan & Dean: Dave thought it would be a good idea to climb a formation to the west of the temple of the sun to try to catch the moon as it was rising. It was a great benefit that the light softened so nicely. Thanks.

Kee: Always good to hear from you, thanks.

Walter, thank you.

Bart
