p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Mize Mill Falls in Sipsey Wilderness (Revised)

This past Monday we headed to the Sipsey wilderness for some waterfalls shooting driven by the overcast/rainy weather. It was the first time we went there. Everything seems to be perfect until when we get this fall. We were in the creek water wandering for a sweet composition. We are so focused on this that we didn't realized a spare L lens slipped out of our bag into the creek . It was sad. It looks like that photographing waterfalls invites extra risks losing some properties.

Hope you like it. C & C's welcome.

The second version is a cropped version to avoid distraction as many of you suggested. I will try second revision to turn down the bright spot in the foreground rock as suggested as another option.

That is one cool waterfall. Only suggestion... crop a bit off the bottom to lose that tan colored rock. Go to a pano format if needed. But the rest of it sure looks sweet. Nice work.

Very nice shot. I'm with Jim here trim the bottom lose that tan colored rock. A suggestion I would capture a bit more above the waterfall.

I agree with the crop suggestion, but that is a lovely shot of a lovely waterfall. I've explored AL some, even a few of its waterfalls, but not enough apparently. Sorry about the lens. It can happen anytime, waterfalls or just climbing to gain perspective. I recently hiked a couple streams in Utah and only had the one lens. However, one slip could have meant the end of the lens and camera. I carry a dry bag, but never put the camera away, except in very risky situations.

Oh man. Sorry to hear about the lens. As a person who uses a taped together lens I feel your pain!

The photo is very nice. I love the light and atmosphere. I too feel the tan rock is distracting. I also with there was more to the right of the log. I wasn't there so not sure if that was possible.

Very nice shot! I hope you went down stream to Turkey Foot Falls.
Sorry to hear about your lens, what a bummer!
Thanks for sharing.

Oh man, sorry about the lens .

nice wterfall

maybe crop it 3/4 the way up the tan rock at the bottom, just leave the tip of it still there

(One thing to not forget is that the Sipsey is even more remarkable for having some (sadly very are these days) old-growth forest still left, some astonishing trees in there. Don't forget the trees for the waterfalls.)

Cool shot - sucks about the lens. I dropped a Zeiss 18 into the creek once, so I feel your pain (well, so did my insurance company!!)

As for the crop, I'd say before you do it, consider just trying to darken that little bright area of rock. Or clone some moss over it if you're good at that sort of thing. I kind of like it there, it's just the bright spot takes the eye away from the falls.

(+1)

That was exactly I was going to recommend about the small bright colored foreground.
Lovely photo!

Thank you all for your kind comments! Also appreciate your sympathy on the dropped lens. We feel much better now

I have attached a first revision of the image by just crop-out the bright spot of the foreground rock. However, I need to turn down the rock at the same time in order to avoid distraction. Hope this improves.

I will try Steve and others no-crop suggestion later when I have time.

Again thank you for your C&C's.
