This is probably just a waste of bandwidth for most of you but sometimes you need to vent. The picture is not great it was the latest I have of my Buddy. This is Triumphs Vom Whirling Thunder and he was diagnosed with trigeminal neuritis yesterday meaning that he has no feeling in his tongue and part of his lower jaw. Therefore he can't eat or drink by himself and his mouth stays open a bit. If the diagnosis is correct he should recover fully if I can keep him hydrated and nourished which I will regardless of what it takes. If the diagnosis is wrong then we are looking at even more cruel disease states and I will have to make a tough choice in 4 or 5 weeks :-((.
So, I just needed to write and hope for the best as he really has been my best friend for 6 years now. He is the most affectionate animal I have been exposed to, and as you can see he is normally noble but now can't eat and drools all over himself when he tries to drink. I stay happy in front of him as he cues off my demeanor, but tears come when I leave him after forcing food down his throat. There has never been a doubt that he is fiercely protective of my family and it is not an exaggeration that you would have to kill him to get into my home without my OK. He will happily spend the day cutting wood, hiking, or watching movies from the king bed. He has touched our lives and now I am praying for his!

Steve and Jim,
Thanks so much for the kind words and the sun will bring another day this morning. I am off from the hospital for most of the day so he and I will fight through some messy feedings and hydration and still make it a great day.
When tonight comes hopefully I will be one day closer to having my boy well!

Ed, sanjayg, sharona, leslie, and friscoron,
Thank you all so much for the boost. You have made me smile and reminded me once again of the kind people here at FM.
In a few weeks, I hope to be bragging about how great Tri is doing :-))
Sincere thanks to you all!
Greg

Hi,
1. It is a WONDERFUL portrait!
2. Having had GSDs since 1986, I can only say something that you already know...He is worth every effort, every heartbreak, and all the love you can give him.
3. I hope to see a new photo of the big guy in a couple weeks showing him fully recovered and back to being your wonderful companion and protector.

Tim, I appreciate your thoughts and kind words.
Gene, spoken like a GSD owner in every way! Thank you sir.
In respect to this being a photography forum my next post will be after a recovery. Please know I appreciate you letting me talk! The day was tough as I changed his water at least 50 times as he would try to drink over and over. Thank goodness we have a room in the basement covered with rubber mats wall to wall as the mop also got a good workout. I have 10.5 to 12 hour shifts the next three days but he will still get what he needs as sleep is just a bad habit now :-)). Time to put on my big boy pants and do what needs done!
Again, I thank each of you!
Greg
