Quick backstory so this photo has some meaning to it. Cathy has been pushing my photography skills ever since I got my 1st DSLR. 7 years later, I have learned a great deal about lighting and be able to tell how certain photo was taken. Recently, she has been posing for me and trying out poses inspired by other photos.

This particular shot was also inspired by another photo and looking at the original, I had a pretty good idea about how it was lit, so, I set up my lights and took a sample shot and I happen to nail it on my first try. Lighting was exactly how it needed to be with proper ratio and exposure.

This was taken at around 1:00 a.m. on my driveway. We did some shoot in the studio earlier and those ran longer than anticipated, hence, the super late shoot for this one.

Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens: Canon 24-70 2.8L
Lights: (1) B800 with medium softbox, (1) Canon 580EX II bare

Didn't know you could fit a person in a Leica M3 !
The glare in the window detracts from an other wise good picture.

Looks fantastic to me. Looks like something out of a magazine. Congrats on getting it right the first time

Thank you! I also like the flare and as Dudewithoutape said, it kinda does look like something out of a magazine.

I like the flare as I feel it adds to the mood of the image. The hot spot in the car does distract my eye away from the subject.

I hope you don’t mind me editing your image to show you how I would retouch this.
