I like it a lot but I wonder how it would look with less saturation?

Very neat photo and nice colors. Didn't realize the person until looking at it for a while. I'd consider cropping from the top about 1/3 into the blue as the top of the 'wave' pulls my eyes out of the picture

Either way, nice capture!

this is a unique wave image. a perspective i have not seen before. the thing that kills it for me is the cyans in the shadows at the bottom. cyany shadows are not pretty

ps... and the yellows at center are a bit much

Hey Ton,

A very cool perspective, but wow... the colors went really crazy on this one. I am thinking in general with your shots, you need to be pulling back the colors before you post now... this is not the first shot from you where the saturation of the colors were just way too much.

The point of us making comments, is that you read and listen, and then your future photo postings should reflect changes from them. This almost seems like you have a bunch of photos that you have already processed and you are just posting a new one every day or so and not paying attention to our comments. When you pay attention to Comments, it means that things will Change...

So, with all of our comments about the oversaturation, your next photos should not be over saturated. In fact, you should go back to this photo, edit it and then post it in this thread with the changes.

Jim

I agree with the over-saturation. It is a nice perspective though.

+1 on the saturation. The perspective is great as it appears the wave is going over your head.

Agree what you have said here. The compositions and light chasing of Ton's images are cool. Some of them apparently were over-saturated. We also want to know more about the stories and, perhaps, some techs behind images. I encourage Ton to share a bit more about photos to make his images more juicy!

A question for Jim: what are the criteria for images being selected for highlighted display on top of the forum?

Ditto on the over-the-top saturation. Wonder also if you could pull back on the highlights of the sun exposed rock to see if there is more detail to be shown.

BUT - Great composition (you really have a good eye for composition) and the person in the photo makes it better.

Correct me if im wrong but i think any image uploaded to FM upload area (the part that cost $) and hosted on FM is highlighted up there

Exactly.
Pay and upload through the FM photo hosting.

I also agree with Jim & others on the saturation.
Plus, the idea of a little more interaction with those that offer suggestions

Fantastic composition and lighting. Saturation may be a bit much, but you're the artist, not us.

I'd like to see a version without the hiker.

Very cool. TFS

Jim is BANG ON!!!

You have a potentially good image here but the processing, IMHO, has ruined it. It makes it hard to even look at the image. You have been posting some images with excellent compositions but the processing leaves a lot to be desired. You even mentioned in a thread you don't know how to process and just use HDR presets and it shows. This image is a perfect example of an over-cooked HDR image. Something a LOT of us here in the landscape forum very much dislike and have devoted endless hours/years perfecting our processing techniques to avoid. If you choose to stick around here I'd suggest participating by providing details of your photos as well is interacting with the suggestions by others. This is not a forum for spray and dump style posting. There are plenty of "pat on the back" style forums out there where you can collect all the "positive" comments you want. Here, if you take the time and effort to get involved you'll see there is a plethora of knowledge to be had and to learn from.

That is a unique image of the wave and I like it. I love the composition but the processing I share with everyone else. I know it takes time to learn processing and of course everyone has their own individual flair.

I would also suggest that you differentiate your titles more (not this one but your previous ones). You really have a lot of threads with the same title names but different photos and its really hard to tell which one is which.

Could be titled on the cusp of the LSD wave. Really distinctive comp though.

Ton
I really enjoy your composition with the wave crashing overhead and the hiker for perspective. But--the colors are yuck.

I would echo many of the comments above, way too much saturation. You have great compositions on many of your recent posts but almost each one is overcooked from a colour perspective.
