Bob,
First- it's a terrific closeup portrait. A nice-looking older woman who knows how to wear a hat.
The color version works because it's nice to see the lovely yellows of her ensemble.
The B&W works better IMO because it is a bit kinder to the woman's face.

Well, I loved this. And it looks wonderful in B&W. But the color - my goodness, it really brings out her personality, even though you can tell even in the B&W, that she is colorful and vivacious. I want to be like her when I get old(er).
