Utah loves Utah.

I’ve lived here for 4 short years now and this is what I’ve decided; Utah wants you to stay right where you are, so they keep the best part about the state...a secret.

When everyone thinks of Utah, they think of Delicate Arch, Zion and the abundance of red rock down south and that’s exactly what they want. Sure, those places are interesting, but why don’t you ever hear about the Uintas? Because Utah wants to keep the Uinta wilderness a secret. There’s only one tiny road traveling through that section of land and you’ll see signs reading “Move Along, There’s Nothing to See Here” The one time I did try to park, Mitt Romney came out of the woods and told me to get back in my car.

Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but I do think that the Uintas are Utah’s best kept secret. I’m not sure why they don’t get the love they deserve. I’ve only been to the Uintas three times and I’ve seen more mind blowing light there, than anywhere else I’ve ever been.

This shot was taken last summer. You’ll see Hayden Peak in the distance that lit up in a way that was truly breathtaking.

That is a stunning shot. I've driven Mirror lake Highway twice, but never at golden hour, unfortunately.

Gorgeous, I have shot that exact scene several times, I even camp at Mirror Lake so I can be there for sunset but have never had such light as this. Well done. Gets pretty cold there at night, even in July. This is about 10,000 feet.

Thanks Ben. The two times I've been to Hayden in particular, it's lit up really nice. My wife and I are planning on moving to Portland soon, but with all Utah has to shoot, the Uintas might always be my favorite (Timp close second).
