Shooting the hoodoos to the south is always more challenging than shooting those to the north (to me, anyway).
But when it works, I like it better.
Critiques and comments welcomed.

Yeah, I'd say it works! This is a really nice image. The layering of the formations and variety of tones really engage the viewer.

Hi Charlie,

I like the layering of the structures and the soft light very much.

Seems like the degree of reflected light off nearby fins is more important than compass direction. And as always the background trees really set up a nice color contrast.

Thanks Dave, Phil, Scott, CHB and Orp.
I thought I had sent a reply to you kind folks, but I guess I forgot to hit the send button.
Anyhoo- this image was taken an hour or so before the sun set behind the plateau on which the Bryce dead-end road is located.
Mind you, it's a false sunset, so getting warm colors is more of a guessing game than one would want.
Also, at 8,000 feet in the desert, there is little dust or pollution to help out with warm sunset colors.
But the colors in the sandstones can be excellent.

Nicely done Charlie. You really nailed the composition. The vertical (portrait) orientation was a great decision.

Oh.. lovely sight here, Charlie.
Those sandstones at lighted softly at the top.. is yummy, indeed.
Very quiet and mystic scene of Bryce Canyon.
Wonderful!
