Content...could be. I know he remembers the depression era followed by World War II. His older brother enlisted and passed the pilots test. In the Army Air Corp his brother piloted B-25 bombers. His crew was shot down and they escaped. They flew several more missions for the next several months after which they were shot down again, only this time over the North Sea. Needless to say they don't make it that time.
My dad had also taken the pilots exam in the Army Air Corp and fortunately he didn't pass the test, but went on to be a mechanic working on the planes. I say I am grateful that he didn't become a pilot because if he had, there would be a good chance I wouldn't be here today.
Fast forward to today, he is content. He is a good guy. Just a photo I needed to share, especially after the post called "my dad". It made me think of mine and how grateful I am to be able to still talk with him and understand family history etc. Not sure I understand completely today just yet....but I learn more and more each time we visit. His brothers are gone as are his sisters, the last one passed away at age 101. I remember when he called me to tell me that she had passed. After about 15 minutes I called him back after I realized he was the only one left.....I felt bad for him. I know what it was like to lose my sister (his only daughter) at age 56 to cancer.....I guess the only way I have come to grips with people passing is to tell myself it is the circle of life......

I agree with Lisa, he looks like he is in his 60s. He looks very content in both pictures. Maybe that is his secret.
