I have been working on a series of "Earth" tone images the last few weeks with my monochrome work.
I really want convey the warmth of the southwest landscape with the new toning I have been working on.
Not sure if these work for all of you and your comments and thoughts are all very much appreciated. I have added a fifth image to the mix with a reduction in saturation. Still not looking "warm" to most or even all of you but its the tone I am looking for to convey my perception of the southwest.

Wow! All great but number 1 gets my vote. Love the earth tone approach to that pic in particular.

These are fantastic Klaus. These tones especially suit the first 2 photos. 1 and 4 are wonderful compositions. 1 is a feast for the eyes and 4 has a 3D feel.

I really like each of these quite a lot! On the final image, I find that my eye wants to see a bit more of what is on the left side of the image. I realize that the sky might not be as nice with more of the left side in view, however.

I love your images and your vision and style.

However, if you are looking to convey "warmth", I don't think these work. Brown, earth tones do not mean warmth at least to me. Actually brown, earth tones seem cool. If you want warmth, I think you need for red and yellow hues.

Love your work. #1 and 3 are my favorites. I feel that #1 is too tightly cropped but otherwise it is a stellar image.

Hey Jim

Blue is the color of cool... Brown is an extension of Red, Yellow, Orange and is a warm color. Perhaps not for you, but for most of the rest of us I think brown would be considered a warm color.

Hey Klaus,

It's been great following your warm excursion on FB, so it's nice to see these all in one group. All of them work for me, no favorite, they are all great except for the last one. For me, I wish there was a little more to the left being shown in the composition. The butte in bend feels cut off. Maybe it's just me on that one. DO you have a composition where you swung the comp more to the left, losing the first outcropping on the right, allowing the river then to come out of the corner and to show a bit more of the butte?

Klaus, I came back for another look at your tree, but I see it's been replaced (photo 4). The composition isn't quite working in this one.

Another great series Klaus. I too share the same thoughts about the composition in the last.

Man, you always seem to have amazing skies to work with.

I see what you mean about "Earth" tones. Personally I like your BW work more but these work. I might tone down the saturation just a touch but that is just personal taste. This is your art!

In #2 there seem to be a bit of a mid-tone halo at the edge of the arch. It is not prominent but noticeable.

That is really all I can offer for CC. I love the images otherwise especially #1!!

These all work spectacularly well from the dual perspectives of composition and presentation.

My standard highest accolade applies, to wit: "Get plenty of BIG wall space ready."

I was just thinking of Horseshoe bend, and omitting it from my upcoming trip - but this shot has me rethinking it. Great tones and processing !

I love toned B&W images, but these I feel have a too heavy hand on the tone. My preference would be to back off the intensity of the tone somewhat to give it a more subtle feel.

I also agree with Camperjim that these do not portray a warmth, maybe to do with the intensity of the tone.

Just my opinion on these.
