p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · horseshoe bend

I just came back from a southwest trip. I was near page during the afternoon and I stopped by horseshoe bend. Such a beautiful place. I found a spot where I could lay on my stomach, lean it and get a good viewpoint. This is a 3 shot pan.

The shadow on the left is really bothering me. I guess sunrise or sunset would've helped with much even lighting across the entire area. I did bracket shots but it didnt really help me much. I couldn't remove it properly in post without making it look artificial.

Any thoughts, comments, critiques, suggestions is highly appreciated.

Great view, I plan to be laying on my belly in the same location next November after I leave the north rim heading to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I'm guessing you shot this with a crop body since you had to take three shots to get this.

As far as a critique goes, it appears to me you overdid the shadows correction a bit here, your end result doesn't look natural to me. Plus it seems like there's too much yellow in the white balance and the curved horizon is rather distracting. I'd back the WB temp down significantly and darken the areas in shadow.

Really good point on the curved horizon. I should be able to fix that. I did bump up the orange tones to enhance the color and that might be why the WB looks a bit affected. I will play around with it a but more.
I actually was trying to reduce the shadow in the picture since I thought it took a bit out of the picture

The water level was really low and the folks in page said they needed a lot of rain this year since they haven't had any in a while. A lot of boats down there though inspite of low water levels.

I played around with the color and corrected the horizon as per the comments.

Beautiful capture, The water level looks too low this time. I have been there at sunrise and sunset, at sunrise the shadow on left is still present. YOu haven't missed much
