p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Winter "Save the Date" shot with dog in Chicago

Supposed to be 80 degrees tomorrow in Tucson, and tonight a low of -16 degrees here in Chicago with a wind chill of around -40 degrees. Fun!

On Sunday, had an e-session planned and we managed to basically get one shot done for their Save the Date card, and then decided to wait for warmer weather. It was relatively warm when we did this shot, around 18 degrees and windy, so it was around 0 degrees or so with wind chill. Walked a couple blocks from their apartment and I liked how these trees lined up at a park, so we knocked this out. Comments welcome.

Nice shot mate....Love the look on the dogs face.
41C here at the moment...I'll trade you some snow for some heat.

Thanks, Bud. I'll take that heat! I'm a hot weather sort of guy, totally displaced in Chicago.

That dog was something, just a year old, full of energy. I was surprised it sat for the few seconds that it did. I'm talking to the dog as I'm shooting, that's why it's giving me that crazy look: "Why/how is that camera talking to me?"

Having a boxer who I try to shoot, mostly unsuccessfully, I would say you did very well here. I love the concept and the shot!

Love the concept. One nit - could you rework the bottom of her coat? My eye goes from faces-dog-coatflap. FWIW

"I'm a hot weather sort of guy, totally displaced in Chicago", Ron you are in the WRONG place

We've had some nasty weather here in NJ, BUT it's nothing compared to what you guys are going thru!!!!

Keep warm, or at least try. Oh, love the shot
Bob

I'm not sure how you put up with that cold weather up there but I'm glad you do because this is a really fun shot! That dog would have been happier in Tucson for sure! And you know the snow added a extra element to this that you couldn't get around here! Cheers!

If you are only going to get one shot, that's the one to get. I can never seem to get dogs to sit still where I want them.

Thanks, everyone! I got up really early (I'm also not a morning person) to get some dawn shots of downtown Chicago while it's -11 degrees out this morning. Fortunately, it wasn't too windy so it "only" felt like -25 degrees. Fun!

I appreciate the comments. I was really, really surprised that dog would sit on my command. As soon as he got antsy, Guy (the groom-to-be) would tell the dog to sit but then that got Moose turned around. So we got what we could while the dog listened to me, and Moose was a trooper.

Bryan, I appreciate your comment about the coat, but what you see down there isn't her coat but rather the material from the belt/sash/whatever that's called. So while I know it can seem odd not knowing that, I feel like it probably should stay.
