Sunrise on the flooded salt pan by Salt creek, Death Valley.
It is always a lot of fun to find some water in death valley so you can work on some reflections of the beautiful mountain ranges. I was very fortunate to have some really interesting clouds and thought the wood of the blanched tree mirrored the shapes effectively.
Its always difficult deciding how to interpret the scene after capture. The digital information is simply a representation in 0s and 1s and allows more latitude than the selection of different films with their fixed formulas. Thinking about the mood that you felt and the 'presence' of the scene aids the interpretation. Here is a second pass of the flooded salt creek I posted a few weeks back, identical camera position but a slightly more intimate view with a longer focal length. Processing this time with less saturation and more clarity than my previous interpretation.
