Hey Geoff,

1 is my fav of the set, 4 is the classic preening shot, and 5 is a comical look! I really like them all... It's almost unfair that you can show images from Galapagos right after your killer Haines sets!

Thanks Mitesh, nothing much to shoot up here right now so I'm just digging through my old Aperture libraries and reprocessing my favourites in LR.

Wonderful set Geoff !
I love the first one, marvelous textural detail. The cormorants are just as wonderful, those eyes are so striking.

wow, guess I won't be needing my 500 if I ever get there? Nice pictures, really fun to see portraits. I like number 3, something about the unique pose and those blueish eyes. I'd like to get there some day, which tour outfit did you go with? Thanks for sharing!!

Well, John that would be debatable, I know Artie goes there with his 600 (previously his 800) so anything can go. If you think about, these were 400mm on 7D so equivalent FOV of a 840mm lens. You don't need 500 and if I went back it would be with either a 200-400 or a 300II with both TCs. I wouldn't take my 600.

I went with http://www.andandotours.com and we were on the Mary Anne boat. Max 21 passenger, good food, good access and a good itinerary although new rules have made it harder to see as much as we did in 8 days. Now you have to do 2 weeks to see everything we saw in 2011. 2012 rules changed to restrict landings on consecutive weeks by a single boat. Only bird I missed was the Red Footed Boobie as we didn't get up to that small island to the north but we did go around the entire Isabella and crossed the equator...fun!!

HaHa just noticed the EXIF on the first Mary Anne shot: the Rebel T1i makes its first appearance on FM!! That was my second body with the wider lenses on it either 24-105 or 10-22!! Backup to the 7D. Those were the good old days when the gear wasn't worth more than my car!!

Really fun series Geoff. Iguanas are so interesting....even their texture has texture

Those blue eyes on the cormie are so wild...like little LED's
And the ship shots (wow, say that 5x fast) are wonderful.

Thanks Eric. It was a great trip. One I will repeat some day when I finally get to start doing second rounds. Still too many firsts to cover to go back now. The eyes of the cormorants are amazing.

Looks like a great way to travel Geoff. I spent a lot of time on board ships, but they were all grey, and I had to stand watches...

I like all the critter shots, but the Cormorants eyes make them my picks ~ Ron
