Here is an assortment again from 2011 of some of my favourite shots from the Galapagos.

The last (note originally said first but it is the buddy shot) is one of my top 3 shots that I came back with. There was a very similar shot on the cover of my Lonely Planet Galapagos book and I wanted to try and get something similar. I think I succeeded.

Wow, Geoff, these are just awesome! Each one just pops off the screen, and your captures are just perfectly done! Hate having to pick any as a favorite because they're all so good, but I'd take 1 and 5 if you held a gun to my head

Thanks Mitesh, it seems that LR gives 7D files a very saturated default import compared to what it does to my 5D3 and 1DX files. On the latter two I always am upping the saturation but the 7D is already popping with colour right on LR import. I guess Adobe thinks the 7D shooters want that over saturated Nikon look. I don't mind it but if I even nudged the Sat slider the pictures looked like a cartoon. Back when I shot the 7D I did all my work in Aperture and now bringing these into LR for the first time is quite a difference.

Thanks, I haven't printed it yet. I have gotten 2 requests on 500px to purchase it but currently I don't sell my work. I will likely print it, just not sure what medium I want it on yet. I have prints done in acrylic, glossy metal, brushed (natural) metal, canvas and MDF backed but I can never decide what images suit what medium. Need to print more often as I rarely do it now.

My thoughts overall as what a fun and incredible creature set of images Geoff! Love the set here

#1 I would assume you had a reason for wide open, it left a very thin line of DOF and sometimes that is odd looking on something curved like this but you know I really like this one. My only thought would be for a tighter crop from above perhaps?
#2 Cool one! For me sometimes with a some what even amount of illumination on subject and on BG some simple vignetting or a slight adjustment to BG brightness level will give more pop or focus to the subject
#3 there is a very small amount of focus area on this one. Might be fun to darken much of the image and push our eyes to the one small area of focus here for more impact? I get a little lost in this one. Maybe a little more cropping?

So here's my .02c...#5 is outrageous! I would love to have that framed and printed....it just says so much to me and has such a joyful look to it...sort of like Arnold the Governator. and Danny DeVito in "Twins'.
I'm not lovin' the too oof right front foot on the first which is too bad because otherwise it is really great. You must have had razor thin dof to get the body so crisp but both right and left leg/foot oof.
Really like the second lizard as well maybe tone down the front oof brightness just a tad...not much at all though.
Sally is very cool...love those images and I can picture you scraping your chin on the rock trying to get them...of course she may be a bit elevated and then you could have just sat on your rear

Wonderful series of critters with excellent shots to boot

Love that you are up to cc...of course these nits are only IMHO and I'm sure others or even you may not agree.

These are all really nice Geoff, I'm still chuckling at that last

I can almost here him say, "what, why is everyone laughing?"

1 The front half of the lizard is looking really nice, wonderful color and texture. I wonder if a different crop would balance it out better?
3,4 chopping off virtual limbs?

I would also put out that 1-3 look like they were all shot from too low an angle creating blurs that obscure. This may have been necessary and it certainly isn't all that serious but it does detract.

Your comments about ACR are interesting. It has been a long time since I opened a 7d file. Are you saying that opening a RAW 7d file in LR they look over saturated?

Geoff,
Love all the shots but my only nit is that I feel they are all cropped to tight on the bottom.
Saying that, they're your images not mine and artistic license has no rules, it's what ever
ones preferences are.

I'll respond later or tomorrow AM to all the comments. One thing is none of these are cropped...all FF 7D images as in the Galapagos you don't crop, you just walk closer. Notice the first is shot with 100L

I'll be back to give better responses arguments soon or later...busy, busy, busy.....
