I'm traveling to Northern Michigan - near Traverse City this weekend and am wondering where I could go to try and shoot some wildlife. Particularly interested in birds - raptors, etc and maybe deer. Any ideas?

Hello!, first post here and seeing that I live not far from Traverse City I will suggest going to Logans Landing. There is ample parking and a nature trail along the Boardman Lake. You should be able to view ducks, geese, swans, eagles around there. Recently there was a Snow Goose spotted there and I took pix of a Long-taied Duck also. There were a lot of Mute Swans but some Trumpeters were there also. Deer are easily found usually at dawn or dusk near farm fields near roadways so be careful driving around that time. The deer visit on our property at times and will eat any birdseeds that are accessible and any other good plant matter.

Well to be honest there are many fine eateries around and the usual fast food joints.
I should also say that the weather is not the best as we went from frigid to a warm up
and it is overcast and wet now and one of the crappiest days of the new year.
